Continuing to use AudioTool, we decided to create a different track.
The Soundtrack
At first, we were considering an emotional piano piece, then we decided on a more upbeat yet urban style, as in the videos below.
I then went exploring on the World Wide Web, and found multiple websites where it allowed musical creation in-browser.
The Final Outcome:
I then went exploring on the World Wide Web, and found multiple websites where it allowed musical creation in-browser.
1. Soundation
Although this site allowed me to create a song, it felt very basic, and did not have much variety. The layout, however, was smart, simple and easy to use.
2. Audio Sauna
As soon as I clicked onto this site, and entered the "studio," I felt confused. There were so many things filling the screen, I tried to change the instruments and play a tune to no avail. After finally figuring out how it worked, I met the same issue as before - not enough variety. After sampling many different sounds in class, Sepia Films had decided to steer away from the synthetic and electronic sounds, which this site seemed to be filled with.
Things were not looking promising.
3. Audio Tool
With a heavy heart I tried the last website I had opened in a new tab. "Audio Tool" it said, and stated that it was connected to the Cloud. This was interesting, and so I dove in. Again, at first it confused me, so many interactive buttons and switches! But after getting the hang of it, I managed to make a rather lengthy piece, using beats, bass, strings and piano to create an emotional, dramatic yet urban feel.
This was only my first attempt, but I feel I have discovered the perfect online application for our soundtrack creation.
The Final Outcome:
Our Animatic
This is our final Animatic. We have used Flume - You and Me to show how we will use a more upbeat, yet still dramatic soundtrack for our production's trailer.
Website - The Making Of
For our website, we used www.wix.com as one of our group members was familiar with this free website builder.
We chose a very simplistic style, as we felt it captured the simple message of our production well. We also believed that, due to our production being focused on simplicity (stereotypes, 3-4 locations only, two characters etc), it captured our aims and intentions well, as well as looking professional.

Animatic - The Making Of
For our Animatic, we used iMovie. This was because we were familiar with the program, and could not only change the timings, but add Pans and Zooms where we felt appropriate.
Casting - Finalisation
After much deliberation, we have decided to use Will Holland as our fortunate character, and Oliver 'Ollie' Bowater as our less fortunate character. Here are our profile images of both actors:
1. Will Holland
2. Oliver 'Ollie' Bowater
[to be obtained]

Location
Initially, we were going to use the local setting of Sevenoaks, however we have begun to lean towards focusing on the less fortunate character, and so felt that we needed somewhere more degraded and "run-down."
After much deliberation, we decided to use the ever-popular setting of London. It's contrasting districts, along with the combination of large, expensive homing coupled with housing estates, will immediately get our audience into the ideas of class and status. We also feel that, due to London's council estates being notorious for graffiti, gang culture and other anti-social behaviours, that it makes the perfect setting for our less-fortunate man.
One of the places we have considered to be appropriate for our setting is Grove Park in London. After exploring the area on a recently updated version of Google Maps, we felt that, although there was some middle and upper class housing, we have found an area not too far from a train station, where it is a much grubbier, rougher looking area, with buildings that have obviously never been re-built.
We will also need an office, for our more fortunate character, however this will only be for a minimal amount of shots, and so we have decided to use a school office, or an office at Fidelity International, as one of us has contact with the Health & Safety Manager there.
I will update when we have confirmed all locations.

Casting
Casting is obviously a vital part of social realism, as we need it to look authentic.
We attended the Theatrical Monologues of the year below us, as this gave us another avenue of auditioning.
After viewing the performance, we decided we liked the two male actors, and so I made sure to get profile images of them (front and side view)

Although both performances were fantastic, especially the second of the two, we felt that both of them looked too young to be either one of our characters. This led us to explore other avenues, and we began by considering who we all knew personally, as those were the people who we could easily contact and audition.
I will update when we have finalised our cast members.

Our Demographic
All productions must be directed at a particular target audience. It is not logical to make something "for everyone", especially in media. Therefore, as a group, we had to decide who would be our target audience, and use this decision to influence the features within our production.
Below is a mock fact file of the intended demographic for our production.
Age: 30-60
Gender: Either
Class: Middle, Upper
Drinks: Wine, Cocktails
Eats: Fresh, Organic, Butcher's
Shops at: John Lewis, Waitrose, M&S, Whistles, Ernest Jones
Drives: Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W212), Audi A7, Volvo S80 etc
Occupation: Business, Accountant, Creative arts etc
Favourite Channels: BBC One, BBC Four, BBC Radio 4, Classic FM
Informative Media: The Telegraph, The Guardian, Financial Times, The Independent etc (Broadsheets, small text, more information less pictures)
House: Detached (Rural/Town house), 2-3 Floors, 2+ Bedrooms, Decent kitchen, Living room, Bathroom, Lavatory, Front garden/Back garden etc
As you can see, we have chosen Middle to Upper class, as they would want to watch Social Realism in order to feel better about their own circumstances, and to be aware of the less fortunate, without having to necessarily take any action about it.
Next, we have a profile of our less fortunate character, for comparison.
Age: 20-40
Gender: Either
Class: Lower/Lower-Middle
Drinks: Spirits, Cheap alcohol
Eats: Processed foods, microwave meals, fast food
Shops at: Iceland, Poundland, Tesco
Drives: Can't afford to
Occupation: Unemployed
Favourite Channels: Channel 5, Comedy Central, ITV
Informative Media: The Metro
House: Council Estate, run down, one bedroom, one bathroom, one living room + kitchen (joined), Flat, Rented room
We also decided that our character's typical attire would be items such as a snap back cap, tracksuits, parker jackets, cheap trainers etc.
In conclusion, our chosen demographic would watch our production because it will focus on the life of someone far less fortunate as themselves, thus reminding them and making them feel secure in their class and status, as well as allowing them to obtain knowledge about the lower classes and their everyday lives, in order to gain more appreciation for their own circumstances.
